Competence

CL Group, in partnership with Eastwood Park Training Provider, is launching a new Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) training programme.

This course bridges the industry skills gap by equipping the next generation of engineers with the technical know-how to install, configure, programme, commission and maintain BEMS.

With a strong emphasis on sustainability and energy efficiency, participants will gain practical experience in optimising smart building performance.

Identify components
Recognise mechanical, control and BEMS components used in plantrooms and control panels: valves, actuators, dampers, filters, MCBs, relays, contactors and VSDs.

Component function & layout
Explain device purpose and operation in the classroom and on-site; read schematics to locate items on drawings and find them in the plantroom.

Wire & cable preparation
Select and prepare appropriate cabling for each application: CAT5e, screened cable, single cores, flex and multi-core. Apply correct termination and installation techniques.

BEMS troubleshooting — system level
Diagnose faults at the front-end server and visualise plant status from the BEMS HMI to the physical plant; interpret alarm and fault signals.

BEMS troubleshooting — installation level
Fault-find controllers, AHUs and field devices across pipework, ductwork and containment; verify correct device installation and operation.

Practical hands-on training
Install, test and commission devices in a working plantroom environment using real-world scenarios.
